Essensuals Toni&Guy Manila welcomes new Technical Director

Paul Ashton is the new Technical Director of Essensuals Toni&Guy, working out of the salon's branch in Crowne Plaza, Ortigas.

A highly trained expert in both cut and color, Paul moved to the country from his post in Toni&Guy HongKong, where he is credited for attracting a busy clientele of expats and locals. He has also had stints as creative director in Toni&Guy salons in Beijing and New Zealand.

Paul is an industry veteran, having started in the business at age 16 as a salon apprentice in Liverpool. He moved his way up to become a qualified hairdresser and eventually landed a major career break in Toni&Guy London, which has long been admired across the UK for its innovative styling techniques. This is where he learned advanced hair cutting and coloring through the Toni&Guy Hairdressing Academy. While working in London, he also lectured at Hugh Bard College, teaching all aspects of hairdressing, including theory and practical application.

In Asia, Paul worked with Frankie Chan of Toni&Guy Beijing and Patrick Chew of Toni&Guy HongKong in conducting hairdressing workshops across Mainland China as well as Taiwan and Malaysia.

Toni&Guy's team of stylists will truly benefit from Paul's breadth of experience. One of his roles as technical director is mentorship. He believes in the importance of continuous training and sharpening new techniques. “I see a lot of creativity and passion around here and I'm very excited to be working with such a spirited team,” he says.

At the heart of Paul's work is meeting more clients to style. “A customer would walk into the salon, looking glum and maybe feeling disenchanted. Later, when you watch her admire herself in the mirror with her new cut, there's an energy change. I love my new hair! I feel sexy! As a hairdresser, it's great to be able to help bring out the confidence in people and see them walking out of the salon feeling good about themselves.”

For an appointment, call 6330805 or 6330813.
